Thank you for treating our 10 month old puppy with such love and care. We appreciated Dr. Glueck's patience in reviewing the situation with us and giving details about how our puppy was doing in the examination room. The receptionists were also patient and kind in every way. The efficiency of the surgery, the communication and care, and his ability to come home to us with detailed care instructions really helped us all through this traumatic event.

I felt respected and I didn't feel decisions were made without me, nor did I feel pressured to spend money on tests that weren't necessary.

Everyone from the front desk to the vet on duty are amazing. They make sure we understand what's going on. The tech I had was great and kept updating me about my dog's condition. I feel more understood and respected here then at my regular vet office. The vet tech I interacted with was really great, everyone was so kind.

We had such a wonderful experience at Mass-RI Veterinary ER. Thankfully, there was no wait when we arrived. The staff was very attentive, explained everything clearly, and provided us with different options moving forward. We were able to have the procedure done that same night, and everything went smoothly. They were so pleasant and caring toward both us and our baby.

FAQs

What can I expect at an ER visit?

When you arrive, a triage technician will assess your pet and review their symptoms with you. Patients are seen in order of medical need, not arrival time. A veterinarian will then examine your pet, walk you through treatment options, and provide a cost estimate before anything begins. After your visit, we send a full summary to your primary care vet so their care continues without gaps.

Do you do routine visits?

No, we focus on emergency car. However we have local primary care less than a mile away.

How much does an emergency visit cost?

Our emergency exam fee is $168. From there, costs depend on what your pet needs – diagnostics, treatment, or overnight care. We provide a clear estimate before anything begins so you can make the best decision for your pet and your family. We accept most pet insurance, CareCredit, and all major credit and debit cards.

Can I walk in, or do I need an appointment for emergency care?

Walk-ins are always welcome at Mass-RI Veterinary ER. No appointment needed. We recommend calling ahead at 508-928-5255 if possible — it allows us to prepare for your pet’s arrival and can reduce your wait time — but we never turn away a pet in need.

What payment options do you accept?

We accept cash, all major credit and debit cards, CareCredit, Apple Pay, and most pet insurance. Payment is due at the time of service. Before treatment begins, we provide a clear cost estimate so there are no surprises. If you bring your insurance claim form, our front desk will help you submit it. At this time we do not offer payment plans.

How long of a wait time should I expect?

As a walk-in ER and urgent care hospital, we see patients based on triage. This means that patients are seen by order of urgency, rather than first-come first-served. Due to the unpredictable nature of emergencies, we can provide estimates for wait times, but these may change at any moment depending on what comes through the door. We always recommend calling ahead when possible so we can prepare for your arrival and hopefully keep your wait time to a minimum.

Will someone be with my pet overnight if they need to stay?

Yes. Hospitalized pets are monitored by nursing staff 24 hours a day. You’ll receive daily updates from a doctor, and we’ll contact you immediately if anything changes.
