I can’t say enough good things about this place. Everyone that I interacted with was unbelievably kind and understanding about how stressed I was with my dog. I’ve had to come here a few times because my dog always manages to eat something she’s not supposed to and has had to get it surgically removed which has caused me so much stress over the years.

My cat was seen as soon as we walked through the door! The care taken with each pet is excellent. My cat stayed for two days to be treated and each day the staff called to update me on how he was doing and answered all my questions and concerns. The staff are very friendly and compassionate I would highly recommend coming here for emergency care needed for you’re pet!

FAQ

How do I know if my pet needs emergency care or a regular vet visit?

If your pet is having trouble breathing, is in severe pain, bleeding, or something feels urgent, you should go to the emergency veterinary hospital right away.

For things like vaccines, mild symptoms, or ongoing concerns, primary care is the right place to start.

Our emergency hospital is open 7 days a week, call us anytime and we can help guide you to needed care.

Will my primary care vet and emergency team communicate with each other?

Yes.
Our teams share medical records and collaborate directly, so your pet’s care stays aligned before, during, and after an emergency visit.

Can I bring an injured wild animal to the ER?

No. It is illegal for anyone besides a state-appointed rehabilitator to provide care for wild animals. If you’ve found an animal that is injured or sick, please visit the Animal Help Now site at https://ahnow.org/ to find a wildlife rehabilitator near you.

Do I need an appointment, or can I walk in?

Primary care visits are typically scheduled but we do accept walk-ins as well.
Walk-ins are always welcome at Mass-RI Veterinary ER. We recommend calling ahead if possible — it allows us to prepare for your pet’s arrival and can reduce your wait time — but we never turn away a pet in need.

How much does an emergency visit cost?

Our emergency exam fee is $168. From there, costs depend on what your pet needs – diagnostics, treatment, or overnight care. We provide a clear estimate before anything begins so you can make the best decision for your pet and your family. We accept most pet insurance, CareCredit, and all major credit and debit cards.

Do you accept new patients across your network?

Yes. Our primary care locations accept new patients, and our emergency hospital is always available for any pet in need.
